Samuels & Company continued in their role as the exclusive Advisor/Broker to Merlin Entertainments in their North America expansion of their Midway indoor attractions.

Prior year’s accomplishments included the addition of a LEGOLAND Discovery Center at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio; as well as the development of one of Merlin’s newest concepts, Peppa Pig World of Play, at Simon’s Grapevine Mills in Dallas, TX and Taubman’s Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

In 2019 Samuels assisted Merlin in their nationwide expansion which included activities outlined below:

Peppa Pig World of Play:

During 2019 Samuels & Company successfully negotiated the third lease transaction for Peppa Pig World of Play at Simon’s Woodfield Mall which is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2020.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center:

Samuels & Company continued to assist Merlin in their growth of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center brand with successful negotiations for a 30,000 square foot location at Great Mall of Milpitas which is scheduled to open in early 2021; as well as the opening of the 35,000 square foot LEGOLAND Discovery Center at San Antonio’s Riverwalk Center.

SEA Life Center:

LEGOLAND Discovery Center’s “sister attraction” SEA Life Center is scheduled to open a 25,000 square foot attraction at San Antonio’s Riverwalk Center in early 2021.

RSG Group (Formerly 1Up Fitness)

During 2019 Samuels & Company assisted in the management and expansion of multiple brands in three markets for RSG Group (formerly 1Up Fitness Group North America) including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas. This included transactions for their larger Heimat Clubs (50-75,000 SF) in West Hollywood, downtown San Francisco and downtown Dallas as well as a transaction for the Company’s John Reed brand (25-35,000 SF) with their first location in downtown Los Angeles. Samuels & Company continues to pursue locations in these three markets for RSG Group’s smallest format called Sonderhaus (20-25,000 SF.)

Samuels & Company continued to assist the management in the national expansion program for Andretti Indoor Karting & Games (AIKG) by identifying potential sites in seven states. We completed two major transactions for AIKG in Houston which will open in March 2020 and in Atlanta which will open in Spring 2021.

Big Al’s

Samuels & Company completed negotiations for Big Al’s fifth location with a 46,000 square foot store in McCarthy Ranch Marketplace in Milpitas, CA which opened in May 2019. This is Big Al’s 2nd location in California and 1st its first location in North California. Big Al’s other locations include Beaverton, OR, Vancouver, WA, Ontario, CA and Meridian, ID.

Samuels & Company successfully negotiated a lease with URW (Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield) for San Francisco Centre, which is scheduled to open in Winter 2020. Other leases completed during 2019 at the direction of Samuels and Company include Atlanta, Minneapolis and Washington, DC. Samuels & Company also negotiated locations at The Void Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA; The Grand Canal Shops in Las Vegas, NV; and The Promenade in Santa Monica, CA.

iFLY

Samuels & Company assisted iFLY in negotiating a lease in El Paso, TX which officially opened in April 2019.

EEE Conference

Howard Samuels returned for the 5th annual EEE conference to moderate a panel entitled “New Entertainment Retail Concepts: Adding Experience and Entertainment”. This panel included the following participants: Rogers Clayton, CEO-The Escape Game; Vince Kadlubek, Co-Founder and CEO-Meow Wolf; Greg Lombardo, CEO-OffShore Surf; David Paul Kirchhoff’ CEO-iFLY Indoor Skydiving; Ron McCarthy, Head of Business Devepment-MSOP Entertainment.
